Sweet Summer Vacation

We spent a week of summer vacation at Pigeon Lake this year. We had a number of friends and family drop in while we were there to enjoy the sun (and rain) and beach time. The highlights included picking strawberries at the local u-pick, visiting the Reynold's Museum in Wetaskiwin (highly recommended!) and making s'mores while watching the beautiful Pigeon Lake sunset.

Pigeon Lake had a large whitefish kill at the end of July (as far as I can tell, it was due to the fact these introduced fish can't tolerate warm, oxygen-depleted water, unlike the native fish population) so there were a lot of dead fish floating in the water and sitting on the beach.  John had to go on daily fish patrol to help clean up the water and beach.
