Grandpa Bill's 60th Birthday

On the evening of December 30th, John received a phone call from his sister who was wondering if he would be willing to come to Victoria the following weekend to help celebrate his Dad's 60th birthday. Apparently all Bill wanted was to spend his birthday with family, so Stacey and John's Mom thought it would be great if John could surprise his Dad with a visit. After some thinking and looking at ticket prices, we decided that we would all go out to Victoria to surprise Grandpa for his birthday. We weren't planning on going to the coast this holiday season but it was a great excuse to go and the flights were significantly cheaper than they are over Christmas.

We flew to Victoria on the 6th and stayed until the 10th. The flight went very well - Charlotte was a little fussy but slept for a bit and Merrie was easily entertained with Bits & Bites and a little Treehouse T.V. Bill was supremely shocked to see us arrive at his house that morning and was rendered speechless for a good half an hour.

We celebrated Bill's birthday on Saturday with brunch at John's brother and sister's house in the morning, an afternoon walk followed by cake and presents, and finally dinner out complete with limo service. The limo dropped us off at dinner and drove us around for a while afterward. It was a memorable night for all involved :)
